A little more information on Chester

Chester has been appropriately referred to as "the pearl of North West England." Within a very short space, there are remnants of every era of history, from Roman walls and an amphitheatre through mediaeval cathedrals, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses, Georgian terraces, Victorian restorations, and twenty-first century architecture. The city has much to offer tourists, including good shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and beautiful walks along the Roman Walls, along the River Dee, and through the exquisite Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's majestic mediaeval cathedral, go to Chester Racecourse, or spend the day at the world-famous Chester Zoo. Further afield, the breathtaking Welsh mountains and coastline, the picturesque market towns and villages of Cheshire, and the Wirral Peninsula with its world-class golf courses are all within easy touring distance, while frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester, and the North Wales coast easily accessible.
