As Cornwall's second-largest fishing port, East Looe's quay area is always bustling with nautical activity. The quay area is connected to West Looe, a more tranquil region, by a seven-arched bridge built in the 19th century. The River Taxi connects East Looe with West Looe. West Looe has a beautiful view across the harbour, while East Looe is known for its winding alleys and narrow cobblestone streets lined with souvenir shops. Views of Looe Island, which is sometimes accessible on foot at low tides, and the returning fishing trawlers can be had from Banjo Pier, a viewpoint accessible from the quay. Looe beach, which is adjacent to the pier, is a favourite destination for families due to its calm waters and wide area of sand. The kids will also enjoy the excellent rock pool area at Hannafore. The charming Kilminorth Woods feature well defined treks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect, and bird life, and the recently constructed Heritage Centre in the Old Sardine Factory in West Looe feature a climbing wall and a cafe. The mining landscape of Bodmin Moor and the Tamar Valley, which may be seen in south-east Cornwall, is mostly protected as a World Heritage site. Much of Bodmin Moor is steeped in stories associated with King Arthur, and the landscape has inspired writers like Daphne du Maurier. This stunning region of Cornwall has a wealth of intriguing sights and experiences to offer.
