Sustainable Property
Sustonica, the first global sustainability standard for holiday lets.
Our aim is to create lasting holiday memories and we intend to do so both responsibly and sustainably.
To deliver on this we've set out a number of environmental and social pledges which help to focus our efforts;
you can read more about them in our Impact Report.
This is why we've partnered with Sustonica, the first global certification for holiday lets,
to support our owners to be more sustainable.
The Sustonica certification focuses on four key areas: energy conservation, water conservation,
waste reduction and promoting inclusiveness. They are on a mission to become the most widely
recognised sustainability standard for holiday rentals and a catalyst to reduce emissions of holiday
lets and influence guests to reduce their own household consumption too.
Properties that display the Sustonica badge have successfully passed the criteria,
which align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council standards,
and their owner has made a commitment to look after our planet as well as you.
I loved the fact that there is ample parking immediately outside the property.
The two bedrooms suited us perfectly and the fact that there were grab rails and a shower chair in the double bedroom en-suite meant that I could easily assist my uncle (who lives with dementia and has some mobility issues) when required.
The living space is well set out, with fabulous views at the back of the property and seating space to enjoy them. The step down to the outside space is quite a long drop which meant my uncle had to be helped in and out ( maybe another grab rail outside would help?).
The whole place was very quiet and peaceful.
We had a lovely few days here and it proved to be a perfect location for us to access all the places we wished to visit in Cornwall.
Tea, coffee and some delicious Cornish milk was most welcome. You should leave some information about Sweets Dairy for your guests - we heard about it from friends….
I had a couple of (small) issues - the TV remotes - I found hard to use and very confusing so more information on how and which one(s) to use would have been useful, but, having said that, this is merely a “nice to have” suggestion and in no way affected our enjoyment of the place, and the washing machine might need a service - again, great to have access to one, but very noisy when in use.
All in all, we had a wonderful stay and Wheal Hart and plan to book again for a September holiday.

First class let in all respects. Ann and Howard could not be more welcoming or helpful. We hope to be coming back in 2026. The cottage is the ideal starting point for day trips to the coast - both north and south. And the newly opened A30 dual carriageway reduces journey times travelling down to Penzance.

Views are perfect and so peaceful. Park right outside and the property is spotless with added extras like tea, coffee and sugar. Close to local supermarkets and 20 mins to Newquay beach and town. Lovely to see history of the property with photos showing how it all started. Yes we will be going back for sure. Thankyou Mr and Mrs Farmer

"First time staying here and it didn’t disappoint."
Absolutely everything you could need for a quiet comfortable stay. Clean, spacious and welcoming.
Just familiarise yourself with the access roads to Tekenbret, a sat nav isn’t always your best friend as it sends you down some very narrow lanes.

"The cottage was very well equipped and had everything needed."
The owner also provided what we needed for our children which was very appreciated and was very responsive.
The main downside was the absence of curtains and the blinds did not block any light so it took our baby and toddler longer to fall asleep and triggered very early wake ups.
The EV charger was also temperamental at times.
Overall we had a very pleasant stay.

"Lovely property, thoughtfully laid out and very quiet."
In mid-June, though, flimsy blinds which do not block out the sunlight made sleeping rather difficult. A larger fridge and freezer would also make catering for a family of 5 easier. Great views and outdoor space.

"Wheal Hart was a beautiful cottage."
It was very comfortable and incredibly clean. We were met by the owner on our arrival which was a great personal touch. The location was beautiful. Remote but easy access to main roads. All three of our girls were able to share a room which they loved. The cottage had everything we needed. If we come to Cornwall again would definitely look at booking Wheal Hart.
Thank you! Very glad you had a good time.

The property itself is an excellent base with everything required for a comfortable and enjoyable holiday. The utilities and equipment made it a home from home. The owners were welcoming on our first day and change of towels for the second week was great. The shared garden is huge and has private areas outside the property which give a secluded feel.

Cottage was very large and well laid out.
View spectacular. Nice and quiet apart from neighbours who felt slamming car doors at 11pm / 11:30pm was acceptable.
The only criticism / suggestion I could make is some of the paintwork could be refreshed and the Jacuzzi bath could do with descaling as a lot of limescale shot out on first use.
