Sustainable Property
Sustonica, the first global sustainability standard for holiday lets.
Our aim is to create lasting holiday memories and we intend to do so both responsibly and sustainably.
To deliver on this we've set out a number of environmental and social pledges which help to focus our efforts;
you can read more about them in our Impact Report.
This is why we've partnered with Sustonica, the first global certification for holiday lets,
to support our owners to be more sustainable.
The Sustonica certification focuses on four key areas: energy conservation, water conservation,
waste reduction and promoting inclusiveness. They are on a mission to become the most widely
recognised sustainability standard for holiday rentals and a catalyst to reduce emissions of holiday
lets and influence guests to reduce their own household consumption too.
Properties that display the Sustonica badge have successfully passed the criteria,
which align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council standards,
and their owner has made a commitment to look after our planet as well as you.

"This was our third stay here as we love 'The Old Cowshed', and it's position in the village, plus there's a reserved parking place right outside the door."
The property has all the facilities we need, and it's a comfortable quality environment, with the owners do a great job of looking after it. It has easy access to the motorway, and to all major routes no matter where you're off sightseeing. There's two pubs, both doing catering, an Asian restaurant, and fish & chip shop. Just on the edge of the village there's a Co-op, and just outside the village there's a garden centre that does great breakfasts and lunches. Kudos to Alan & Gail for providing a quality environment for a lovely holiday, thank you so much, Jeremy & Jackie in Halifax.

"We had a great stay here, very clean and the basic needed for a holiday cottage."
It’s a shame there wasn’t more character inside, pictures on the walls, up to date info on the area to hand. It sounds strange for a holiday but we needed an iron, which they didn’t have or a hair dryer so remember that if you stay. The bed was very firm and took some getting used to and it was too short for us. The bottle of milk, shloer and teas etc were much appreciated. We didn’t see the owners at all. overall it was a great stay and would recommend this property

"Well !!!"
what a few days, when we got there there was no sign telling us where the cottage was, so we followed the lane to the bottom, nothing. In turning aroud in a lady's gateway the car got damaged, we eventually found it by driving into the farmyard. A sign on the gateway would have helped. The cottage itself was very good but a couple of points, 1 there is nothing in the bathroom to put or hang things on, 2 the outside was really scruffy and run down. We have used you many times but afraid we will not be using Sykes again. No sign of the hosts at all.

What a pleasure to stay in such a lovely well maintained cottage, with every amenity at your disposal. It has truly been well thought out to make a holiday special. 15 minutes walk away is the village with an amazing 12th Century church, two pubs serving good food, and even a fish shop. Most places you'd like to visit are within 20 minutes to an hour away, so it's ideally placed for doing the touristy -bit. We liked it so much we've booked to go back this year. It was so peaceful, we enjoyed having a little walk to see the cow's and sheep in the field. We had a little problem with the TV but it was put right very quickly by the owner, very nice gentleman. The only thing I would say is take a travel iron and a fan with you especially in the hot weather as these are not provided but I am sure if you ask the owner might be able to supply these, luckily I had both with me. If you want peace and quiet in a cosy cottage then I would highly recommend The old cow shed. 10/10 .

The Old Cow Shed is a separate building on a working farm so as long as you don't mind the occasional rumble of a passing tractor or the sound of cows or sheep in the background it's a great location. It's comfortable and very well equipped (some of the best kitchen knives I've ever found at a property) with excellent wifi connection.
The owner is on hand if you need anything (I didn't) but very unobtrusive.

Very conveniently located for Weston, Bristol, Clevedon, Axbridge, Wells, and many other places. Would recommend The Old Cowshed without reservation.
