  • "The cottage was in an idyllic spot with spectacular views over the valley which we were able to enjoy from the garden."

It was cosy and comfortable and felt like home.It had everything we needed.Chinley is adequate for basic shopping but Whaley Bridge and Chapel-en-le-Frith are only 3 miles away and both have supermarkets. There are walks aplenty and National Trust Lyme Park only 8miles away.Castleton is lovely for walking and a visit to Blue John Mine very interesting.Barbara was very warm and welcoming. We had a lovely holiday.

Chinley is a lovely little village nestled in a wonderful rural setting, on the western edge of the Peak District National Park. Popular with walkers, who are attracted by Chinley’s close proximity to Kinder Scout, visitors are well-catered for with the village’s selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants. Serious walkers will wish to head east from the village, across the green foothills to the russet expanse of Kinder’s moorland plateau for a starting step onto the Pennine Way or Snake Pass. Families and those looking for gentler roaming can venture west along the beautiful Sett Valley Trail towards New Mills with the Torrs Riverside Park, a peaceful place for recreation and relaxation. Within just a short drive are the delightful High Peak villages of Chapel-en-le-Frith, boasting a cobbled marketplace and historic old stocks, and Whaley Bridge, with its canal basin and a good range of local amenities. Just a little further is Castleton, with its famous caverns and Norman Castle, as well as the popular spa town of Buxton, with its fabulous Opera House and Victorian architecture and park.
