Easily accessible from the A303 and M5, yet surrounded by the splendour of the Blackdown Hills, Somerset Flats and the Dorset Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this all-ground-floor haven is perfect for a pair seeking a rural escape, with the highlights of Somerset on your door step. With reserved parking and gardens to relax in, the Barn itself boasts original beams and a genuine thatched roof and garden view.

It makes a wonderful choice for a traditional English countryside escape. No expense has been spared on a 6000 spring, hypo-allergenic super king size bed with genuine Egyptian cotton sheets for a perfect night’s sleep.

Or request for the bed to be made into two singles if you're travelling with a friend! A large country garden is available for you to enjoy, with a picnic hamper should you wish to dine, or just wine, by the pond. The nearest pub is just a walk through the countryside and offers everything you might want from a country inn.

Many others offer variety and quality dining within a few short miles. Pretty Ilminster is on your doorstep for all of your local amenities such as ingredients for your homemade meals and boasts pubs, cafes and excellent delicatessens as well as a rich history worth exploring through its stunning Minster, art gallery and concert hall. A perfect base to explore Somerset, Devon and Dorset, there are many characterful towns, national trust sites (such as Barrington Court) and fascinating itineraries to fill your days.

Pop down to the coast for breakfast in Lyme Regis before moseying eastwards to the Jurassic coast, West Bay (setting of “Broadchurch”) and Bridport.

The next day, head north to Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge and the beautiful Quantock Hills or maybe take in the pretty towns of Langport and Somerton.

If you want to shop, Taunton, Yeovil and Exeter are within easy reach.

There really is so much to do here, you’ll need to come back… At the heart of the South West’s cycling network and with secure cycle storage provided, there are so many wonderful cycling opportunities within the area and in all directions.

The Chard to Ilminster route is particularly popular for a gentle cycle ending at Chard Reservoir, or for the more hardcore the route continues to the coast. The Barn at Rapps Cottage makes a marvellous choice for an escape to the Somerset countryside.

In close reach of both the Blackdown Hills and the Dorset Area's of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the town makes an extremely scenic base for those seeking outdoor wonder, with plenty of activities to entertain all tastes. Taking its name from the River Isle and its large church of St Mary, Ilminster also benefits from a rich history, with its art gallery and concert hall once being a sixteenth-century grammar school, as well as a traditional Edwardian-style clothing and soft furnishings store named Dyers letting you get a real feel for the town's past.
