  • "Fantastic holiday, lovely cottage."

. Only two slight moans, the grass needed mowing and more cleaning products ie cleaning cloth, more dishwasher tablets. Welcome pack could be a little bit better!! There was no tea or biscuit’s.

Thank you so much for your lovely review — we’re really glad you had a fantastic holiday at Swallow Barn! Apologies about the grass — we had quite a bit of wet weather before the heatwave, which delayed our usual mowing schedule. And regarding the tea, biscuits, and cleaning items — we do normally provide these, but unfortunately our new housekeeping team missed replenishing them this time. Thank you for bringing it to our attention — we’ll make sure it’s addressed going forward. Thanks again for your helpful feedback, and we’d love to welcome you back in the future! Warm regards, Mel & James Property Owner

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
