Originally a Farm House tucked away in the countryside of the North York Moors is this characterful, semi-detached house, Springfield 42 High Street. Boasting original stonework throughout and resting within the North York Moors National Park and a short distance from the North Yorkshire coastline, Springfield is a delightful setting for your next staycation. After leaving your car, take in your quaint village location, before making your way inside the charming dwelling. The sitting room has been designed with relaxation in mind, with ample seating available for all the family, where you can cosy up in front of the toasty woodburning stove, as you play a board game with your loved ones or watch a movie on the TV. Move through the house to find a pleasant kitchen with cream units, hosting a range of integrated appliances that will please any budding chef, including a dishwasher and an electric cooker and hob. When dinner is ready, savour it in the dining room with a woodburning stove warming the space, providing the perfect spot for many happy, family gatherings. After tucking into dinner, you can find the ground-floor cloakroom, where you can throw boots into the original stone sink and any muddy clothing into the washing machine, before wandering upstairs to find two well-presented doubles, one boasting floral accents and an en-suite cloakroom, and the other enjoying stylish, purple touches. Castleton also sits centrally on the Esk Valley Walk. Guisborough isn't far and is home to the Guisborough Forest, where you can start your walk through the enchanting woods via the Guisborough Forest & Walkway Visitor Centre, the town is also home to the Guisborough Museum and priory, where you can learn of the local history. Spend the day in Pickering, where the ruins of the once-glorious Pickering Castle, the fascinating Beck Isle Museum and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway await. For a day out by the sea, venture to Whitby, where you can bask in the sun on the Whitby Sea Front, before climbing the famed 199 Steps to the stunning remains of Whitby Abbey; why not try something different, and board a cruise via the River Esk where you can go Whale Watching or embark on a fishing trip? The market town of Helmsley rests on the southern edge of the National Park, and is home to the renowned, 900 year-old Tudor Mansion of Helmsley Castle, beautiful Walled Gardens, and birds of prey centre. There is so much more to experience in this amazing region, with the National Park's ample walking and cycling trails resting just a stone's throw away, a short drive away is the Ryedale folk museum in Hutton le Hole. The picturesque village of Castleton nestles in the beautiful Esk Valley, in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. Surrounded by stunning scenery, this bustling village offers superb amenities including two pubs, both serving great food, a convenience store, deli & tea rooms. There is a railway station serving the Esk Valley and Whitby, which also links with the steam line to the attractive market town of Pickering. The Camphill Village Trust community of Botton is nearby, with its craft workshops and shops selling home produced food, craft items and books. The historic city of York is just over an hour away, and the coastal towns and villages of Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hood's Bay and Sandsend with its lovely beach, are within easy driving distance, and well worth a visit.
