This charming holiday accommodation benefits from being a short distance away from the coastline and is perfectly positioned for exploring the majestic beauty of the Exmoor National Park, perfect for adventurous families or for those simply seeking a relaxing getaway with loved ones.

Enter into the thatched property, which has been beautifully presented and offers a sense of charm through its period features such as the sash windows, exposed beams and characterful fireplace.

Step into the well-equipped kitchen, which features all the essentials to cook up your own delicious meals before venturing into the living room, where a dining table offers a social spot to tuck in and enjoy catch-up time with your loved ones, For a more relaxing evening, simply flick on the gas fire, which rests in the impressive, original fireplace, and snuggle up on the sofa as you find a family favourite film to enjoy amidst this cosy ambiance.

Once the evening has drawn to a close, climb the staircase to find two bedrooms, one boasting a twin bedroom with a quaint alcove and views over the community gardens, whilst the second bedroom features double aspect windows and a plush double bed.

Come morning, take your cup of coffee out onto the rear courtyard to catch the first bit of sunshine, whilst admiring the soundtrack of the stream that runs alongside the property.

For those bringing their canine companions along, cross the road to discover the community gardens, where you can stretch your legs before venturing out for the day.

If you do not feel like cooking, take a leisurely stroll into the village where you will discover a selection of pubs, restaurants and takeaways, including the renowned pub at the harbour, so you are certain to find something to suit, in addition to shops including a delicatessen, cheesemonger and a butcher, perfect for picking up any ingredients for your own home-cooked meals.

Take time to enjoy the pretty Porlock Weir, where you can enjoy the sweeping views that stretch across the Bristol Channel, before meandering the harbour, home to cafés, a gallery and the charming Boat Shed Museum.

Those feeling adventurous can take a kayak out to explore the coastline further, or try your hand at stand up paddle boarding or hire bikes for guided tours from Exmoor Adventures.

Keen walkers can enjoy the delights of the South West Coastal Path or The Coleridge Way, as well as the entire beautiful Exmoor National Park, designated as Europe's first International Dark Skies Reserve.

Alternatively, brush up on the local history by visiting Dunster, with its imposing National Trust-owned castle or embark on a journey along the West Somerset Railway, which will take you through the stunning valleys around the Bristol Channel Coast, all the way up the west flank of the Quantock Hills towards Bishops Lydeard.

You will be delighted to call Small Piece home as you enjoy the wonders of Somerset.

PORLOCK

Minehead 5.5 miles; Lynton 11 miles.

Porlock is a quaint village, popular with tourists due its character, proximity to the lovely North Somerset coastline and situation within the Exmoor National Park. There are plenty of little gift shops along with pubs, cafes and restaurants to be found and only two miles away, the picturesque harbour of Porlock Weir offers wonderful views across the Bristol Channel. The Porlock Hill takes travelers up a steep, winding road out of the village to the Exmoor Hills, where walkers, horse riders and cyclists will love the open space, where ponies and red deer roam the moors. In 2011, Exmoor was designated as Europe’s first International Dark Skies Reserve, and so this is an excellent base for a romantic evening spent gazing at the stars, where a clear night unveils an abundance of interesting constellations to the naked eye. Porlock offers the choice of sea fishing from the weir, and the reservoirs and rivers of Exmoor are only a short, scenic drive away. Golfers can stay in Porlock and enjoy one of the several courses on the edges of Exmoor, with the nearest only seven miles away. The medieval village of Dunster, where the castle dominates the skyline, makes a great day out, or take a ride on the West Somerset steam train along the coast to the little harbour village of Watchet. A fabulous village location with lots of outdoor pursuits to interest every visitor.
