• "We 3 generations enjoyed our Christmas stay, plenty of room, warm by the fire, kitchen well appointed and a comfortable living room."

  Good size bedrooms, comfy beds, can't fault the bathrooms . Tintagel and the coastal path are excellent walks. A few moans though, for parking, bring the old small car. Double bedroom ground floor is quite damp, it was though winter and the dehumidifier is effective.

• "What a beautiful home!"

  We really enjoyed our stay and the courtyard was lovely to sit in on the sunny afternoons we had. The rooms were nice and big and very comfortable. The walk down to Trebarwith is lovely and only takes about 10-15 min. Just a minor suggestion, there were seven of us and we found that there wasn't really a sufficient frying pan or saucepan to cater for a meal for that amount of people. We did however really enjoy our stay and I would highly recommend Parwin to anyone! Thank you so much!

• "It's a lovely little place."

  Olde worlde is feels nice. Parking is a major limiting factor and the locals, not all, are unwelcoming to say the least!! Uncompromising, poor drivers and very rude. The oven doesn't work as we found in the middle of cooking a meal and the toaster needs replacing. Many rules and regs to follow. Not the place for us at all.

• "We had a lovely few days at Penwin."

  Good location being able take to take a short walk up the lane opposite the house and across the field to the coastal path. The house is well furnished and equipped. The local area of is stunning. Definitely recommend a meal or drink on the terrace overlooking the sea at The Port William. Will go back.

• "Parwin was a lovely cosy cottage."

  The kitchen had everything we required to cook heart warming meals in when the weather was terrible outside. We enjoyed a lovely glass of wine in front of the big fire place. It was decorated to a beautiful standard and it felt very homely to all of our family. We would stay again without hesitation.

• "Parwin is a wonderful, truly authentic Cornish home."

  It is beautifully and tastefully decorated throughout and has all the amenities you'd expect from a high end holiday cottage. My family (and dogs!) came down to Parwin for a long weekend stay in January 2024. It was the first time we'd stayed in the property in almost 37 years. Our family owned Parwin from 1982 unti 1987, so it was especially nostalgic to stay in a property which felt so familiar and that already held such good memories for us all. The village of Treknow is well located for the amenities of Tintagel (just a five minute drive up the road) and the gorgeous scenery of Trebarwith Strand beach and surrounding cliffs. We'd particularly recommend Sunday lunch at the Mill House Inn. This great pub can be found on the road down from Treknow to Trebarwith. The Port William pub is also a good place to stop off for a pint when you come off the beach, although it is an expensive bar bill! All in all we'd thoroughly recommend a stay in Parwin. A gorgeous, cosy home with everything you'll need for a great time away.

• "Lovely comfortable cottage, ideally situated for Trebarwith Strand and the North Cornwall coast path."

  Very spacious and well equipped. An internal bath mat would be a small but very welcome and safe extra for use in the main bath/shower for children and adults alike. Parking was a little difficult but not impossible!

• "Overall we had a great week at Parwin."

  The kitchen, bathrooms and courtyard are really nice, it’s clean and generally equipped to a high standard. We loved that it’s on the coastal path and you can walk to Trebarwith strand - a fantastic beach (at low tide) for body boarding, cave exploring and also has a pub, shop and cafe. Minor negatives: - As the bedroom downstairs is en-suite, the 6 people upstairs share one bathroom. - There’s nowhere to dry washing or beach stuff when the weathers not nice. - Need more glasses in the kitchen as there’s only wine glasses or tiny water glasses. - We had an issue with a bed that was fixed temporarily, but then broke again so we just ended up fixing it ourselves for ease. - As mentioned in other reviews parking is limited, but that’s what you get when staying in a small Cornish village.

It does state that it is on the ground floor bedroom which has an ensuite. In the cupboard in the kitchen you will find a pullout clothes airer/dryer. We have added some large drinking glasses. The issue with the bed has now been sorted. Parking is roadside parking and is on a first come, first served basis. We hope that we might welcome you back for another stay at a future date. • "It was ok..."

  .needs a bit of TLC. I have stayed in lots of 4 bedroom houses in Cornwall which have been considerably better in beautiful coastal locations and costing less money. We still enjoyed our stay and Ruth was very helpful when we needed help.

• "Parwin is in a good location for North Cornwall, although the village roads are typically tight Cornish offerings in Treknow."

  The property itself though does have some issues which need addressing. The WiFi did take some connecting and the instructions weren't particularly clear (we had to factory reset the router to get a connection). The Boiler has issues at it kept losing its pressure and both the Hot Water and Heating kept stopping and having to be reset (we did this at least 6 times). The biggest issue though was the beds as the mattresses are thin and the beds springy which made them very uncomfortable to sleep on. The worst being the two single beds and the large double above the lounge. The "locals" weren't exactly friendly either, slapping a fake parking fine notice on our car for parking directly outside the house. All in all we probably wouldn't stay again here.

  Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback and for making us aware of the issue with the boiler and that it kept losing pressure. We have arranged for the boiler to be serviced which will hopefully sort any issues there might be. As you know, bed comfort is a matter of preference. Our mattresses are deep firm mattresses, which is our preference but may not be what you are used to in your own home. Parking for our property is nearby on street parking, we don’t have an allocated parking space. When parking in the village due to the narrowness of the road’s visitors need to be mindful of not blocking or reducing access when parking near the property, The Fire Brigade do carry out checks on access and can put what looks like a yellow parking notice onto cars, if they feel that the access to the road is restricted.   Beautiful stunning house in a bit of an out of the way location but it is so quiet and piece full the house itself well you cannot fault it the local hotel does some really tasty food at a great price and the ciders not bad either my only criticism would be the beds could do with being of a bit more of a comfort not that they're uncomfortable but a really luxurious comfy bed makes a holiday well is does for me other than this its a fab rental to try out

• "Had a great week in Parwin."

  The cottage is lovely and as described in the details. The kitchen/diner was a great space and very well equipped. We were 4 couples and we could comfortably fit around the large table. Sun trap of a patio which we used for bbqs some evenings. Plenty of hot water for showers. Great location. Handy for different beaches and several lovely coastal towns/villages. We walked the beautiful coastal path to Tintagel. Cross country walk to beach at Trebarwith Strand where we ate at the Port William pub. Also ate at the Mill House Inn down the lane and the Old Malthouse Inn in Tintagel when we easily walked back along the roads - about 20 mins. Parking is very tight there especially as we had 4 cars. We found spaces further up the hill. Only issue we had was the design of the en-suite shower room. The shower doesn’t drain well and so water remains all over the floor. We had a great week and would book again.

• "Parwin is a lovely holiday cottage and is spacious, well maintained and lovely especially for 8 people and 2 dogs!"

  It's set in a lovely area only a short 30minute walk from Tintagel and a beach which also have 2 pubs close by. It has lovely scenery and is nice and quiet which is great for a few days away with the family. Its also perfect for driving to other towns close by including Bude, Newquay, Boscastle and Port Isaac. Cannot fault the property really in anyway it was maintained to a high standard and ticked all our boxes for comfort, facilities and space! If there are any criticisms it might be the road that leads towards the beach is a bit of a nightmare being a steep single road with few passing places so be aware it would be better coming from the Tintagel side. Also, another niggle, is the distinct lack of parking for 2 cars for we literally could not park at the allocated space at the garage at the rear and the rest of the area was parked up however we were fortunate there were no other cars at the other property across the road which allowed both cars to park! Overall, despite the niggles, Parwin is accurately described and we would look to book again in the future!!

• "Such a lovely property!"

  Really nice location very close to Tintagel and nice pubs in walking distance. We had a small issue trying to work out the hot water initially as the boiler seemed to have lost pressure but very quick fix and the showers were lovely! You will need to bring throng like oil, salt, pepper. But otherwise kitchen was well equipped. Would definitely recommend, really nice being sat around the fire in the evening. • "Nicely done cottage."

  Well kitted out. Comfortable for us all (3 generations ). Spacious bedrooms upstairs. We did arrive when it was dark on the Friday, so negotiating the steps with no outside lighting was tricky. Grandad stood with a torch! The walk to the port William pub was not ideal, goes across field, skinny slippy path - I would want to attempt that loaded up with towels for a day at the beach in the summer!! Enjoyable 30 minute coastal walk to Tintagel. Tight parking outside for 1 car only.

  Would have been snug in lounge with 8 people and outdoor area very small but more than made up by such close proximity to spectacular cliffs on the coast path. Great place to stay and had a wonderful week !

• "We had a lovely family holiday."

  3 generations under 1 roof! Kitchen/diner was superb and we enjoyed the garden and bbq. Both bathrooms were very nice and beautifully clean. Only problem was the on road parking which was often tricky as we had a 9 seater vehicle! Upstairs bedrooms were large, light and airy, but I felt the ground floor bedroom was really too small to accommodate 2 people.

• "Lovely cottage, parking problematic but not impossible."

  The local beach is pretty and accessible on foot with a steep climb back up the hill over stiles (not suitable for push chairs). It’s a little remote but Bude, Tintagel, Padstow and Newquay all within easy reach. Would go back.

• "The description of the cottage was really not accurate it’s not walking distance to the pubs and beach, well it is apart from the fields, steep hill, stile , rocks, car parks then back up a road, or a dangerous walk down the road, more of a hike, than a walk."

  The down stairs was fine but the 3 bedrooms upstairs are very damp and smelly, made all our cloths smell musky, and no amount of bags of lavender in the wardrobe will help, the house was quite dusty which made one of the guest ill and a trip to boots for some antihistamine. The house could be beautiful although old and very pretty it needs a few more home improvements, and updating, the bathrooms were lovely, as well as the kitchen which had everything you need.

• "The cottage itself was amazing."

  However I was disappointed with the responses I got from Sykes when I made a query about directions. I felt that my query wasn't adequately answered and the responses were quite rude. As if I was stupid to even ask. I think Sykes added a negative aspect to the booking procedure and in future I would prefer to book with a different agent or avoid agents altogether.

• "I grew up in Treknow and my family lived there for many generations (MayFamily) We go to stay once a year and always love it Parwin has been our favourite place to stay to date It’s perfect We didn’t take the dogs this time but it would’ve been perfect for them too if we had My uncle used to deliver milk to Joe Winnacot when he was a boy from Henry Browns farm and he remembered exactly where the original back door would’ve been !"

  A beautiful cottage We will be going again And thank you for making it feel festive with a beautiful tree and decorations put up And more thanks for the perfectly chilled Prosecco , milk and biscuits We were made to feel v welcome Excellent facilities - kitchen really well equipped and lots of room for everyone to spread out ( there were 4 of us) The wood burner was perfect for the evenings after long walks to strand , tintagel and out on the cliffs to quarry lane , bluff and over to the church and castle Thanks guys from us all

• "We had a good week at the cottage my main criticism is that in the living room the throw overs used on the sofas smelled of dog & so did the rug on the floor which was a bit off putting for my young grandchildren."

  Also the wardrobes upstairs had an odour which could be just that the cottage is old but it made my grandchildren’s clothes smell & they all had to be rewashed. I do appreciate that you do rent to people with pets & I may need to consider this when booking. However even though I had a couple of issues above the amenities at the cottage was great. The kitchen was ideal for great family nights & sitting in front of the log burner when watching tv with the kids was a lovely treat. Overall we had a very good week & the location of the cottage was superb.

• "When we arrived at 5pm the cottage had not been prepared ."

  ..cleaned etc. There was dirty linen on the bathroom floor. We rang the housekeeper who came in about an hour and we left her to clean for 2 hours. She did a great job but in the current covid climate we were shocked that this could have happened. What if we had arrived at 10pm? Surely a place is cleaned as soon as the last client checks out.? She blamed Sykes for not informing her of the booking ... it was made 2 days before... so no excuses. You need to sharpen up.

  We regularly returned from days out to find a car parked both outside the property and outside the garage where we were supposed to park. The neighbours were also unhelpful.

• "Really comfortable and cosy cottage."

  Plenty of space for the 8 of us aged from 9 to 84! Easy if steep walk to a fantastic beach ( 2 hours before and 2 hours afte low water). Fabulous location with plenty to do, from surfing and body boarding to visiting mystical Tintagel - an exciting walk along the coast path for the boys- and enjoying glorious Lanhydrock estate. We even made a day trip to St Ives, where everyone loved the Tate and the boat trip to seal island. Perfect destination for an all age family holiday.
