  • "Minffordd The cottage was warm, comfortable and clean."

Tea, coffee, sugar and welsh biscuits were waiting for us. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. Washing up liquid, cleaning materials, cloths, sponges etc provided too. Excellent storage for all our needs, plenty of coat hangers, hair dryer. Plenty of hot water, great after a days walking. Toilet rolls, hand soap, towels provided. Up to date local information and hosts telephone numbers at hand. Easy to park, felt like home from home. Handy for pub, if you don't feel like cooking or staying in. Convenient bus stop. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

Minffordd was originally two 17th century cottages but is now a comfortable modern holiday home for up to 5 people.

It is situated in the centre of the picturesque village of Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog on the foothills of the Berwyn Mountains and close to the town of Llangollen.

An ideal base for both family and walking holidays from where you can explore the beautiful Ceiriog valley and surrounding Welsh hills.

Less than a two minute walk away you can enjoy the warm hospitality of The West Arms and the Hand Hotel, whether for a drink and bar snack or to enjoy their fine dining. Set on a country lane, the front door to this lovely holiday home opens into the hallway with the kitchen and sitting room on either side.

The spacious kitchen is well equipped with everything you require for a great stay in North Wales, including an American style fridge/freezer and a range cooker, as well as a Belfast sink and wood block worktops.

The kitchen has a large breakfast table, with plenty of room for you and your party to linger over morning coffee and decide what you wish to do during the day. The pleasant sitting room has a bay window with lovely views of the centre of the village including its much photographed signpost.

There are two sofas and a drop-leaf table in the bay window for more formal dining or to enjoy a board game or jigsaw puzzle. Upstairs are three bedrooms and the bathroom.

LLANARMON DYFFRYN CEIRIOG

Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog is a small Welsh village located at the foothills of the Berwyn Mountains in the Ceiriog Valley, between Oswestry and Llangollen. A former stopping point for Drovers, the village still retains its two original pubs, both renowned for excellent food and one now offering spa treatments. The village church is reputed to date back to the 5th century with Bronze Age remnants identifiable. The area is surrounded by unspoilt walking trails with the nearby village of Glyn Ceiriog being the main village in the picturesque Ceiriog Valley in Wrexham County, North Wales. This beautiful valley, described by Lloyd George as 'a little piece of heaven on earth’, offers a wealth of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors, from walking and fishing to horse riding and cycling. Formerly the centre of the slate mining industry in the valley, Glyn Ceiriog is located three miles south of Llangollen and offers a good range of local amenities, including two village pubs, a Post Office containing tourist information and a cafe, a well-stocked village store and a community sports centre, offering a range of activities including bicycle hire, tennis, indoor bowls and table tennis. Nearby, you will find a wide array of attractions, with the dramatic World Heritage Site of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct well worth a visit. Set alongside the boulder-strewn River Dee, why not visit the popular town of Llangollen, famous for the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod? Offering a good range of pubs and restaurants, as well as many interesting shops, the town also boasts a dramatic mountain backdrop. Explore the Dee Valley by steam train or canal boat, or take an exhilarating walk up to Castell Dinas Brân, high above the town to enjoy the breathtaking view! The National Trust properties of Chirk Castle and Erddig are both within easy driving distance, while a day-long car trip can take you to visit six of the Seven Wonders of Wales. Enjoy a visit to the Old Hill Fort at Oswestry, scenic walking on Offa’s Dyke Path, along the crest of the Clwydian Hills, or access the national rail network to explore the Roman city of Chester, Shrewsbury and beyond. This is a wonderful base for exploring this beautiful region all year round.
