Resting in the heart of the pretty village of Snainton is this lovely, semi-detached 18th Century barn conversion, May Cottage.

Restored to a beautiful standard with the original beams retained, this cottage provides the ideal base for families wanting to explore the nearby coastal towns of Scarborough and Whitby, as well as the small fishing village of Robin Hoods Bay, plus the stunning scenery of the North York Moors National Park.

The open-plan living area has been tastefully decorated with oak wooden floors throughout, contemporary kitchen with dining area with seating area with two leather sofas with Smart TV and electric woodburner add to the modern but comfortable living area.

Upstairs plays host to two wonderful bedrooms, one featuring a super-king and the other a king size, both available as zip and link for more flexibility.

Completing the interior of May Cottage is a contemporary bathroom with bath and shower over, so you can decide how to best prepare for the day.

Outside is an enclosed patio where you can enjoy your morning cuppa whilst planning for the day ahead.

The seaside town of Scarborough is 12 miles east from May Cottage, with two beautiful sandy bays.

The South bay offers The Spa, harbours, amusements, a castle on the headland and The Rotunda Museum.

The North bay offers beach huts, SEALIFE Centre, Mini Railway, Peasholm Park, Open Air Theatre and Alpamare Water Park and Spa.

In Scarborough town is Stephen Joseph Theatre in the round, made famous by our very own Sir Alan Ayckbourn, and there are a variety of shops, cafés and restaurants.

Further up the coast is the small fishing village of Robin Hoods Bay and historic town of Whitby.

Whitby has connections to Captain Cook and Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, the bustling harbour is overlooked by the Gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey a source of Bram Stoker’s writing inspirations.

Travelling west from May Cottage through the lovely village of Thornton-Le-Dale to Pickering where you can board the steam train to the North Yorkshire Moors, stopping at Goathland is a must-see celebrity station which became Hogsmeade Station in the first Harry Potter film.

The charming village of Goathland is just a few minutes’ walk up the bank from the station, with a great range of shops and pubs.

Dalby Forest is a very popular for walkers, mountain bike riding, go ape and open-air theatre.

Flamingo Land is a short drive with is wild rides and zoo.

Take the A64 to towards York and visit Castle Howard stately home on the way.

York is a walled city that was founded by the ancient Romans, featuring a 13th Century Gothic Cathedral, York Minister, City Walls form a walkway on both sides of the River Ouse.

The Jorvik Centre has Viking remains, with a wide variety of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes.

The famous ‘Shambles’ an old street dating back to the 14th Century.

Snainton village has two pubs with restaurants, fish shop, general stores, two churches, riding centre, golf range and park.

May Cottage is ideally situated within reach of the east coast, North Yorkshire Moors and the historic city of York.

SNAINTON

Scarborough 10 miles; Pickering 8 miles; York 31 miles.

The lovely, country village of Snainton is situated at the foot of the North York Moors and is an ideal location from which to explore the popular coastal resorts of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. Snainton boasts two pubs serving food, a fabulous riding centre catering for all ages and abilities, and an excellent children’s playground. A driving range with par 3, 9 hole golf course is close by and many walks, cycle rides and country drives can be found in the vicinity. Experience Scampston Walled Garden with its renowned restaurant, enjoy a day’s fishing at Wykeham, 4 miles away, or visit Dalby Forest with its good walking, mountain biking and “Go Ape” walks for the more adventurous! Pickering, with its famous steam railway, castle and Beck Isle Museum, and the historic city of York are both within easy driving distance.
