"Check in time was not favorable."

We landed at 5:05 a.m. and could not check in till 6:00 pm? Most places will be 3:00 or 4:00 pm check in so that a traveler csn drop off suitcases, put one’s feet up, take a brief jet lag nap and get ready to go to dinner at 5:30 or 6:00 - ( in our case, right when we are to check in). Also we never met the owners, just the son who seemed not able to answer our questions or make recommendations. The views and pastoral setting of the working farm was very nice, but it’s location was remote and not really near enough to places for us.

The property

This lovely, detached cottage offers a characterful feel, positioned on a working farm, in the quiet village of Firies.

Positioned for being at one with nature, in an oasis of calm, this thoughtful accommodation offers three bedrooms for a family or group of friends looking to get away-from-it all.

Step inside to the hallway, which welcomes you with antique pictures and furnishings, lending a nod to the past.

Just to the right is the master suite finished to a lovely standard, with dual-aspect and an adjoining shower room.

Next, the family bathroom oozes quality, with a claw-foot bath tub and separate shower cubicle, giving you options each morning and evening.

You also have another double bedroom for resting your head, or a twin to choose from.

Wrap yourselves around the woodburner in the living room on a cold winter's night and exchange stories of times gone by.

Gather in the country-style kitchen at mealtimes for a freshly prepared meal around the dining table over a tasty bottle of red.

The bright colour schemes will elevate your mood each morning at breakfast, whilst natural light streams in through the sun room.

Take yourself off for a quiet read and enjoy some time to reflect on the day with a refreshing drink in hand.

There is also a utility leading off from here, with a handy washing machine and tumble dryer.

Firies is a small village yet offers pleasant countryside surroundings and a selection of amenities.

Killarney is a short distance away, with many more attractions that beckon.

Visit the scenic lakes glistening within the Killarney National Park; discover Muckross House, a 19th-century mansion with a café and shop, and even find St Mary's Cathedral.

Dingle offers some lovely beaches and craggy cliffs along its peninsula, as well as the Oceanworld Aquarium and Eask Tower the top of Carhoo Hill.

And let's not forget Fungie the wild Bottlenose Dolphin, who has been resident to Dingle waters for over 30 years, attracting all walks of life to meet and greet him.

This is a splendid hideaway for seeing some of Ireland's finest attractions in County Kerry.
