  • "This is the second time I have been to the cottage, it is very comfortable and well appointed."

The cottage is just one street back from the shore...nice walk along the front to the harbour or into the Culzean estate. I really enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it.

Thank you once again for the lovely review. You saw Maidens at its best. This weather has been so good although we are always slightly cooler than the surrounding villages. Hope to see you again in the future. Rhona Property Owner

The property

Resting in a tranquil cul-de-sac in the fishing village of Maidens is this quaint bungalow, Honesty Cottage.

A fabulously-renovated property sitting just a walk away from the bustling shore front, this cottage is ideal for a small group of four wishing to explore the Ayrshire coast.

Find the spacious sitting room, boasting heaps of natural light through the large window, here you can snuggle next to the electric fan fire on a frosty winter's night as you settle on a film with a comforting cup of tea.

Rustle up a home-cooked meal in the contemporary kitchen, equipped with a fridge/freezer, microwave, oven, hob, and a washing machine, ideal for a self-catered getaway.

Take your meals out to be enjoyed in the conservatory space, complimented with a central family dining table, characterful original res flooring and antique décor throughout.

When a rainy afternoon strikes, hop on the plush reclining chair in the garden room as the rain trickles down the glass, either getting lost in your favourite book or binging your favourite show on the TV.

Sunny days can be spent in the spacious garden, benefitting from a lush lawn, patio furniture, and unique honest plants encircling the edge of the garden.

Retire to one of the two beautifully-decorated bedrooms, a double and a super-king-size which can be made a twin if needed, both rooms offer a welcoming spot to rest your head after a long day with ample storage and desk space.

Choose between the spacious walk-in shower, or dip your toes in a hot bubble bath with a glass of wine in the sleek bathroom, followed by a warm towel from the heated rail.

This gorgeous bungalow is situated just one street away from the beautiful Girvan sandy beach and shore front, where you can spend a sunny summer's afternoon relaxing next to the crashing waves overlooking scenic views of Ailsa Craig, or choose to meander on one of the adventurous walking and cycling trails along the breath-taking Ayrshire coastline.

A leisurely stroll will take you over to a convenient village post office, boasting its very own café and shop, as well as a tasty tavern and restaurant found at a local hotel.

Venture over to the famous Trump Turnberry resort, a luxury spot which holds the Open Championship golf tournament and play a game on the grounds of the pros, close to the lovely village of Daily where you'll find a well-stocked convenience store for any extra essentials.

Discover the historic Culzean Castle and Country Park, a regal property overlooking the Firth of Clyde, with endless walks through the woodlands, walled gardens, or along the beach at Culzean.

Alternatively, travel to the bustling burgh of Girvan, spending a day at the vibrant harbour or exploring heaps of fantastic attractions.

Adventurous will relish in the chance to visit Galloway Forest Park, an easy drive away, here you can wander throughout unspoilt nature, try your luck at mountain biking throughout the traditional Scottish lochs, or find the fascinating UNESCO destination of the Scottish Dark Sky Observatory.

With so much to do in this amazing area of Scotland, Honesty Cottage awaits as your perfect holiday base.

MAIDENS

This fishing village sits at the south end of Maidenhead Bay on the Ayrshire coast and looks out to sea with views of Arran and Ailsa Craig and the distant Mull of Kintyre. It was here that Robert the Bruce is acknowledged to have come ashore when he sailed from Rathlin Island in Northern Ireland after his encounter with the spider in the early 14th century. The ancient Earls of Carrick had their seat at Turnberry Castle which today is a ruin. Today Maidens is a popular spot for visitors with its traditional harbour, extensive beach, a couple of restaurants and its close proximity to Turnberry and the spectacular Culzean Castle.
