South Creake is a small quiet village in the valley of the little River Burn, Norfolk. Surrounded by rolling fields, it is an idyllic place to unwind, whilst still situated close to North Norfolk's beautiful expansive beaches, quaint villages, and many attractions including incredible wildlife, water sports, and local events that are held throughout the year. The village features a children's playground, adult exercise area, bowling green, public tennis courts, which you can use for the duration of your stay, and also public fishing lakes at the southern end. The village is home to the York Trust, founded in 1985 to promote arts and music. Organised by the North Norfolk Music Festival, the large mediaeval church hosts concerts by international musicians.
A short walk away the neighbouring village of North Creake boasts another excellent pub/restaurant, The Jolly Farmers, the quaint pop-up Café at Creake Abbey, a good selection of shops and also hosts a very popular Farmer’s Market on the first Saturday of every month. With so much local produce on your doorstep you will be tempted to cook at home. Wine enthusiasts should definitely head to Burn Valley Vineyard. Amble down the vine rows before heading back to the winery to sample their fantastic latest vintages accompanied by a charcuterie platter. For something very different try Norfolk Padel near Fakenham, where you can hire state-of-the-art courts for this fast-growing racquet sport.
Take a short drive to Burham Market, with numerous independent boutiques, cafe's, restaurants, delis, art galleries, antique centres, fishmonger, bakery and butcher, is a must for any visitor. The village is centred around a green of mainly Georgian houses and fabulous restaurants for you to enjoy during your stay. For great, contemporary dining, try Socius; or stroll down to Twenty9 where your food will be cooked over an open fire pit imported from New York! The Hoste Arms offers plenty of charm and character with both informal or fine dining. You can choose to eat in the front or back restaurant, or, on a sunny day, enjoy the sunny terraced garden. The Hoste Beauty Spa allows you to enjoy some well-deserved pampering during your stay. Just a 12-minute drive away is Sculthorpe Mill. This unique dining experience and was voted by the Sunday Times as the best restaurant/hotel in the East of England 2021. Previously a watermill, and built atop the River Wensum in 1757, it is now a beautiful country pub, set in the heart of the glorious Norfolk countryside.
Holkham Hall and expansive Holkham beach can be found just a short journey down road, as can breath-taking Brancaster beach with huge moody skies and a charming colony of grey seals.
