The owner is lovely, the hut is amazing. Pure peace and quiet but not far from the nearest town. Absolutely amazing.

"We had a lovely stay in Elan!"
It was very idyllic and a beautiful setting with lovely views of the Welsh hills. One thing to flag to other dog owners is that the property on a working farm and in a field which cows and sheep graze in. This wasn’t a problem for us and we enjoyed having the livestock so close. Although the property is enclosed with a fence, small & medium dogs can easily get through the part of the fence that separates the hut from the rest of the field - this could be resolved by continuing the chicken wire fencing along here. This wasn’t a problem for us but more of a flag for people with prey driven dogs. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return!!

"We had a lovely 4 day break at Elan ."
Amazing views , so peaceful & relaxing . The shepherd hut was spotless and has everything you need .it has big windows which open wide ( which was important to us as i dont like to be enclosed ) We took our dog Daisy and had no worries as there was an enclosed garden around the hut .
Wonderful reception from owners . We had an email asking if we arrived safely.
WE CANT RECOMMEND THIS ENOUGH , it is beautiful and rural .somewhere to recharge your batteries away from hustle & bustle of life
We will definitely go back

.. well thought out and you can see that a lot of effort and love has gone into the build/construction. My partner and I didn't waste any time in booking this lovely hut in a perfect location.
The amenities were great!!! A big thank you to Janet and her family for the kindness and hospitality received. We can most definitely recommend Elan Valley as a must-see part of the country whilst staying at one of the Shepherd huts.
We are looking forward to staying there again as there is so much to see ... stargazing being one of them.

It wud of been nice if u wud of popped down to say hello, how cum u said there was only 1 hut left wen theres only 2 stuck in a field in the middle of nowhere an it takes at least 2hrs to get to a town, an the other hut was empty.also if u need the toilet in the nite u have to climb over someone to get out the bed.I think ur criteria of the huts etc is very deceiving an i wudnt stay again or recommend it. The only gripe, which is very minor at best, the mirror provided in the bathroom was a little too high for a 5ft 3 and a half inch lady, as I said, Minor.
Overall the experience was great, a lovely area to walk around and a fantastic place to stay, we would definitely come again.
