    Plenty of local walks and lots to see and do nearby. If in Yorkshire would definitely see if we could stay here again.

Your home away from home

Settled in the village of Embsay on the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park is this wonderful stone, mid-terrace cottage, ideal for those seeking outdoor adventures.

Just under two miles from Skipton, Crag View Cottage is a great base for touring the area, with historic places, vintage steam railways and castles to explore.

Step through the front door and find yourself in the homely sitting room where a woodburning stove takes centre stage in the fireplace, with a Smart TV and two sofas allowing you to unwind into your evening.

Head through to the spacious kitchen/diner, decorated in a classic, country style, with an electric AGA range cooker for you to rustle up delicious meals with to be served around the dining table.

Head up the stairs to find two lovely bedrooms, with the master room home to a king-size bed, a dressing table and boasting beautiful views of Embsay Crag from the window.

The smaller second room contains a double bed (accessed from one side), a small desk, desk lamp and chair, with views to the rear of the property.

Serving both rooms is the sleek shower room with a walk-in shower, basin and WC, as well as a heated towel rail to keep you warm.

Completing the property is the charming enclosed courtyard where seating allows you to enjoy the fresh air, perfect for sitting with a morning coffee while your canine companion stretches their legs.

Just across the road from the cottage is the village pub, Elm Tree Inn, perfect to have on your doorstep for evening drinks or afternoon treats post-walk, with the Embsay village shop just further down the road offering all the essentials you need.

Don't miss a trip on Embsay's main attraction, the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway taking you through the picturesque Yorkshire countryside on a vintage steam train, with special extras you can book like afternoon tea or even gin tastings, before arriving at Bolton Abbey where you can alight from the train and embark on a walk up to the historic Bolton Priory, with the choice to extend the walk up to The Strid for more beautiful scenery.

The town of Skipton is just under two miles from the cottage and boasts a wider selection of shops, pubs and restaurants to visit, along with being the home of Skipton Castle, an almost intact medieval castle with a dungeon, kitchen and bedchamber, and Craven Museum & Gallery.

Venture into the Dales to attractions like Parcevall Hall Gardens spanning 24 acres, Stump Cross Caverns and the fascinating Malham Cove with this uncommon geological formation consisting of a limestone amphitheatre, waterfall and stunning valley views.

This quiet Dales village is of ancient origin, with a stone circle dating back to the Bronze Age and having been the site of a monastic settlement in the 12th Century. Today it is popular with walkers and steam railway enthusiasts who come to enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside and the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, with its award-winning authentic station buildings and steam trains. The Old Mill in the village centre boasts a needlecraft centre and coffee shop, whilst all the amenities and attractions of the lively bustling market town of Skipton are close at hand. Nearby are lots of popular places to visit, including Bolton Abbey, Kilnsey and Grassington making this an ideal location for a wonderful Dales holiday.
