  It is warm,comfortable and very thoughtfully equipped for all to enjoy. The welcome gifts of scones biscuits juice and milk are very generous and Mr and Mrs Baker are on hand should you need anything. We would definitely recommend this lovely property

• "Fantastic holiday cottage, the hosts couldn't have made us feel more welcome, so much so, we rebooked for next year within 24 hours of arriving!"

  The Scones and apple juice were a wonderful welcoming touch and Sarah was utterly lovely, explaining everything we needed to know about the quirks of the aga and the underfloor heating. Cannot recommend it enough - peaceful and tranquil with easy access to the coast path for walking and just as easy to walk up to the Gurnards head pub. Bit of advice, book in advance if you're planning on eating at the Gurnards head, as it gets very quickly booked on Fridays and Saturdays, Just a wonderful holiday. Thank you so much!

• "This holiday accommodation offers luxury living in an area of outstanding natural beauty."

  We loved our stay and despite the January booking, we enjoyed winter sunshine each day. We explored St Ives, Marazion with the famous St Michael's Mount, Penzance and St Just, not forgetting the lovely little village of Zennor just down the road. The owners of the property were very helpful and explained the workings of the Aga and the woodburner when we arrived. They spoiled us with a Cornish cream tea, local apple juice, chocolates and flowers which were very much appreciated. No wonder so many guests return repeatedly. We would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful holiday home.

• "We have never stayed in such a lovely holiday cottage."

  Perfect in every way. Truly home from home. 10 out of 10. The kitchen was stocked with every item you could ever need. The beds were so very comfortable. The en suite, superb. The lounge has views to die for. Spotlessly clean all round . Mr & Mrs Brown are a lovely couple. Not in the least intrusive, but on hand with help, if needed. I could go on……… needless to say, we shall return.

  Could not fault a thing. Everything that one could want in a holiday cottage is there. Comfy beds, clean en-suites, lovely lounge and garden area. Highlight is the Aga, loved using it, plenty of kitchen equipment. Walks from the cottage either to the sea or the pub, would want nothing else!

• "A bit of a mix up with how to get the keys as per email said to ring a couple of days before but had no answer then finally got through to be told they were going out and to ring the next day ."

  ( times in the email was 7-9 pm ) Also think that maybe another arm chair would be better than a 3 seater sofa and one arm chair. Apart from that it’s a lovely cottage and the owner was friendly and welcoming .

In regard to the 3-seater sofa suggested, there would be no extra room, and we have not had any previous comments on this.   The property is well maintained, clean and tidy. Also fully equipped with everything you need to stay in and cook an evening meal. The location was perfect for us, with views of the sea from the lawned garden, and two pubs within walking distance. We will return in the future and would not hesitate to recommend a stay if you are looking for a relaxing break.

• "We were very impressed by Back of Beyond - very spacious, extremely well equipped, very comfortable and a great location."

  It was really Back of Beyond if you wanted it to be, but only 4 miles from Penzance if you need shops. And every "mod con", down to an Amazon Echo in the kitchen and wiresless chargers for phones in the bedroom. And we loved the Aga! We would love to stay again at some point, it was so quiet and relaxing.

  Wonderfully warm and spotlessly clean. Perfect with dogs as the floor is tiled and has easy access to the garden. Nothing could have been added and we greatly appreciated the scones cream and jam left for us. I would definitely return.

• "The cottage was very clean and comfortable."

  It was extremely well equipped, with plenty of crockery and cutlery to fill the dishwasher many times over! We loved the large garden, with its fantastic sea views, and so did our dog. The owners were very helpful and obliging without being intrusive. The only downside was that the aga made the whole cottage, especially the kitchen, very hot in the warm weather. We were too hot at night in the bedroom and I felt a bit queasy sitting in the kitchen for any length of time. It seemed very wasteful to have to have the windows open just to let the heat out. It would have been very cosy in the winter though. Apart from that however everything was perfect and we had a great holiday.

We had read reviews of the intrusiveness of the owners but have to say we did not find this at all - they were welcoming and respectful of our holiday, making every effort to make us feel welcome. • "Back of Beyond is just that - and it’s perfect!"

  The view from the windows of the sea and countryside was stunning. It has the most wonderful garden that we loved to sit in. Our dog Dudley thoroughly enjoyed his stay too. We have an Aga at home so it was a true home from home in the kitchen.

  The views from the property are superb and the garden is a delight to sit in. it was very peaceful . There are lots of scenic walks from the doorstep, stunning sunsets. A beautiful area to explore. Sarah , Bob & Jo were so accommodating such friendly people nothing was too much trouble. The scones and jam with clotted cream were a lovely touch to arrive to after a long journey as was the Cornish cider. The property has been converted to an excellent standard and we can’t wait to return. A little piece of heaven

  Extremely comfy cottage with good facilities. Decent pub nearby although it's open only for breakfast and lunch. All the tourist spots are easily accessible by a car. Will definitely be coming again.

• "Absolutely stunning location!"

  The accommodation was 1st class throughout. The owners were very welcoming & explained how everything worked when we arrived, including the Aga, which if you are not used to takes a bit of getting used to. The local pub, the Gunnards Head, although requiring reservations for dinner, has a large garden with lots of socially distant tables which you don't need a reservation for if you just want a refreshing drink. The next nearest pub is the Tinners Arms, about a 40 minute walk away, again reservation maybe required for food, but not for drinks in the garden. If you want a break away from everything this is the place for you, it really is the back of beyond, but St Ives or Penzance is only a 30 minute drive away! Although I would not recommend trying to drive into either of those. For St Ives, drive to St Erth train station and park your car there for the day (£3.70) and catch the train to either St Ives or get off at Carbis bay and walk the coastal path in, absolutely stunning.

• "The cottage was listed as an enclosed garden which is suitable for dogs."

  This was not the case the garden is not enclosed the dog could not roam the beautiful massive garden because there were several exit points he could get out from and the garden backed onto other peoples gardens who left there gates open so our dog could escape onto the road. We enquired about the enclosed garden with the owners prior to going and they did put a temporary gate up on one of the exit points, however when we came back to the property after being out, the gate had been left open every time. Meaning that people were accessing the garden that we had paid for when we were out, that makes me feel uneasy and wonder if they were also accessing the cottage itself. We had to close the gate each time we came back to ensure the dog did not escape when we opened the doors to the garden. The owners were very intrusive and decided it would be OK to mow the massive lawn on a Sunday lunch time whilst we were trying to have our lunch on the patio due to gorgeous weather and limited access to restaurants because of the Covid regulations, even though he could see we were eating he continued on his electric ride on mower until it was finished. I would have expected this to be done prior to our holiday. The entrance to the cottage is in a shared courtyard with the owners who have one property and the sister who the other property and we were constantly being monitored when coming and going. Either the owner at the fence looking in or the sister and partner smoking in the courtyard looking into our property The cottage itself was absolutely gorgeous, facilities were brilliant and the views were amazing, we really loved the place however the constant intrusion was off putting and upsetting. We would never go back which is a shame because the place was idyllic!

  Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback – as you can see from previous reviews other guests only report positive encounters with the owners of the property. They took steps to help ensure the garden was enclosed prior to your stay they are certain that gates weren’t left open. As you’ll appreciate such a lovely garden requires regular maintenance (and sometimes this needs to be scheduled as the weather allows): the owners did check with you prior to cutting the grass and you were happy for them to proceed at the time. • "It was a true home from home , warm and cozy, clean and comfortable."

  Lovely welcome package on arrival, milk in the fridge with jam cream and lovely scones , spectacular views , breathtaking walks to the rocky north coast ( 1 mile ) , fully equipped kitchen , a lovely quiet place to relax but only a short drive to St Ives which is stunning. All in all I would definitely recommend this fantastic place which was perfect for the Christmas and New Years break with my Wife and two teenage daughters ...Bob and Sarah the hosts are lovely helpful people..many thanks ..Steve and Family

  Prosecco, milk, apple juice in the fridge together with jam, cream, scones and saffron buns which lasted about 5 days. Delicious. Very comfortable and spacious cottage. Bed too soft and Aga made the kitchen rather hot. Fabulous views and lovely holiday.

• "The information on the website stated that the property was on one level, however there were two steps up to the bedrooms and bathroom in the twin room had a step."

  As two people in this party had mobility issues this was unexpected. The property itself was excellent in all other respects, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The outside space was exceptional. The owners were very friendly, with a lovely cream tea and a bottle of cornish cider awaiting us on arrival. We would highly recommend this property and will definitely return.

  It is in a beautiful setting. On arrival we found a lovely cream tea and few other suprises in the fridge which were most welcome after our long journey. We would definitely consider going to stay there again, If we win the £1000 draw we will definitely be going!! Only one negative the dishwasher was a bit temperamental but Mr Baker did say he was thinking they might have to change it but it didn't spoil our holiday we had a wonderful time and Gurnards Head was beautiful, steep in places when walking but worth the effort.   The pictures do not do this place justice, it’s lovely, with a sea view from the garden. It’s completely kitted out. Everything you need with added extras like fresh flowers and scones with clotted cream and jam. It’s so cozy you feel completely relaxed and at home immediately. I really can’t praise this place enough. It is remote which means you need to hook up to the WiFi to boost your phone signal. I didn’t bother. It’s lovated in a great spot and everything is not that far away. We loved it and will return next time we visit Cornwall.

  The hosts have gone out of their way to make the property a home from home from the lovely tasty welcome goodies for the humans to the generous supply of available dog towels. The dogs found their welcome treats very quickly in the little dog box. Beautiful location with ample parking and a good sized garden. Great access to the south coastal path right on the doorstep perfect for the dog walks. Lovely dog friendly pub 2 minutes walk up the road.

  We really appreciated how clean the property was on our arrival. It was great to have the goodies (scones, jam, cream plus Cornish cider etc) as a welcome. We also appreciated all the extras that had been included (soap, loo roll) and the quality of the bedding towels and crockery was very good indeed. We appreciated having the owners on hand if we needed any advice etc but also valued the privacy they gave us. Altogether a great place to stay!

  Owners left flowers, wine and other treats like cream teas for us which were much appreciated. The barn conversion was very cosy, curtesy of the Aga in the kitchen and nicely furnished. In an excellent location for visiting The Tate, the Minac theatre, Sennen Cove, some National trust gardens and other interesting places to take in. The dogs adored the large garden. Would definitely consider booking again.
