Our aim is to create lasting holiday memories and we intend to do so both responsibly and sustainably.
To deliver on this we've set out a number of environmental and social pledges which help to focus our efforts;

to support our owners to be more sustainable.
The Sustonica certification focuses on four key areas: energy conservation, water conservation,

Properties that display the Sustonica badge have successfully passed the criteria,

"Great location and beautifully presented."
The fan and loose sheet were very welcome as it was very warm when we stayed at Avenue croft.
The only addition I would like to see is a freezer. I was unable to refreeze my ice blocks for the cool boxfor our return journey

"We had a lovely 2 night stay in a peaceful setting."
The cottage has everything you need for a short stay, with comfy beds. There was a very dirty spoon left in the drawer and some crockery could have been cleaner so perhaps a better check in between guests. Also a quick go round with a feather duster and hoover under the beds but other than that everything feels very new and nicely done. The children loved visiting the sheep in the adjacent field! Great little local pub at the bottom of the drive across the road with a small play area and good sized beer garden if you’re lucky with the weather. We also drove to Sherwood Pines a relatively short drive away which was delightful for a family afternoon out. Thank you for having us!

"Lovely cottage in a peaceful and private setting."
The cottage was very clean and comfortable and well appointed with everything you need for a short stay. Lack of a freezer, for me , would be inconvenient if staying longer than three nights. The cottage is spacious and easily accommodated our group of four people without feeling we were getting in each others way, especially when we were all getting ready for a wedding. The village is lovely and the locals very friendly and we loved the very friendly sheep in the field next to the cottage. The local pub was very welcoming and served excellent food. Local walks were good too. All in all we had a lovely time and we enjoyed our stay at Avenue Croft.

"This is a lovely clean and bright cottage which is very well decorated and cared for."
The owners couldn't do enough for you and the location was beautiful.
There was plenty of equipment in the kitchen to cook although I would suggest that they provide a bit more cutlery and plates so you can have a set in the dish washer.
The only comment my friends made who were in the twin room was that the sink in the bathroom was too small and the glass shelf needs to be moved.
All in all a lovely break and I will certainly recommend this cottage.

"This comment is one for Sykes to consider."
The mattresses for the single beds were too firm for comfort and a good night’s sleep.
While bed firmness/softness is a personal matter, it would be helpful for customers of Sykes to have some way of knowing how firm/soft the bedding is for the accommodation they are considering booking.
A three or four tier grading would suffice to give some indication, even if some subjectivity is involved, e.g. firm, quite firm, quite soft, soft, should be sufficient.
Had this information been available, we would not have booked the Tollerton accommodation as the single beds would be classified as firm. Our friends slept in the double bed so we cannot comment on that one.
Other than that, we found the accommodation enjoyable and well appointed.

The cottage is even more impressive than it looks on the website. Loads to do and see within easy reach yet incredibly peaceful and relaxing. This is the best place we have stayed at home or abroad. Thank you Dawn and Lee for opening up this superior home to us.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. Maybe you can return again soon

"We really enjoyed our stay and the cottage was lovely with all modern facilities and spotlessly clean."
It would help to have more of the amenities listed on the website eg hairdryer, DVD player, kettle and toaster. The location was idyllic, and we enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch at The Plough Inn over the road. Slightly on the downside, we found the cottage rather cold, especially in the lounge area and the 2nd bedroom. Also, we found we were able to hear conversation rather too easily from the owners' house, through the main bedroom and ensuite bathroom walls, which made us feel not quite so private if they were able to hear us as well.
