  • "A little more information about the cooker would have been helpful."

    And more than 1 tea towel, but these are only minor gripes. It's a fabulous cottage. Very peaceful and plenty of room. Nicely situated for getting out and about. Henny,(the owner) was lovely and the brownies and sausage rolls she supplied us with were delicious !.

Set over two floors and sleeping up to six guests, Ammerham Farm Cottage is a superb and generous dwelling for your Somerset getaway, with its fantastic countryside views that can be enjoyed from the large garden or the comfort of your room and easy links to Chard and the Jurassic Coast.

Arriving at the property, there is a spacious driveway that can accommodate three cars, so you can unload your bags with ease and take in your glorious countryside surroundings before stepping into the cottage.

Be welcomed into the homely sitting room, where you can look forward to putting your feet up and enjoying your favourite film in front of the warming woodburning stove set in a exposed stone inglenook; on cooler mornings, sip your coffee on the delightful window seat which offers attractive views of the garden.

Moving through to the heart of the property, find an ample open-plan living space with kitchen, dining area and sitting area, where you can enjoy whipping up delicious meals for your guests in the well-equipped kitchen whilst still being a part of the conversation, settle down to enjoy a tasty home-cooked meal around the dining table or retiring to the relaxing seating area to toast to a wonderful holiday with a glass of fizz.

When night falls, you have the option to retire to one of three bedrooms, the first being a tastefully decorated ground-floor king-size with its own en-suite shower room, ideal for those with limited mobility and where everything can be accessed in one place.

Completing the ground floor is a handy cloakroom, negating any toilet queues!

Moving upstairs, you will find two additional bedrooms, a super-king-size and a twin, each beautifully decorated and retaining original features with beams adding a truly traditional feel.

Treat yourself to a spot of alfresco dining at the lovely seating area in the spacious garden, where you can watch on as the children enjoy running and playing games.

For those who are keen to learn the local history, the remarkable sites of Forde Abbey, with its vibrant gardens and country house and the National Trust site of Lambert’s Castle are certainly not to be missed.

An attractive rural South Somerset village, close to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, overlooking the Axe Valley, on the borders of Dorset and Devon. Winsham offers visitors a friendly, lively village base, with lots going on locally, together with a thriving village shop and pub, which serves a good selection of real ales. Being situated on the Liberty Trail and the Wessex Ridgeway, there are plenty of walking opportunities affording wonderful views straight from the door, and those who love exploring beautiful gardens and country houses are spoilt for choice with Forde Abbey, East Lambrook, Barrington Court as well as Montacute House, used as a setting for TV's Wolf Hall, all a short drive.
