Porlock is a wonderful working Exmoor village and boasts three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, petrol station, hardware shop, visitor centre, several art galleries and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms.Porlock Weir is approximately 1.5 miles from Porlock and is well worth a visit. There are restaurants, a pub, tea rooms and some independent shops, such as Exmoor Glass.Many of the shops in Porlock and Porlock Weir are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops also reduce their opening hours out of season.Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 6 miles from Porlock. Here you will find the larger supermarkets (Tesco, Lidl and Morrisons are all situated on the outskirts of the town and have long opening hours, Tesco and Morrisons also have petrol stations), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
