The Ballroom is a dog-friendly self catering holiday cottage in Wheddon Cross, Somerset, predominantly situated on the first floor of a converted 14th Century outbuilding, part of the Cutthorne Farm. Set in a secluded valley in the heart of beautiful Exmoor National Park, the property retains many original features including a solid oak floor, and offers lovely bedroom and sitting room views across its cobbled yard and into the valley. It is ideally located for those wishing to explore Exmoor, being around 20 minutes from many of the primary moorland attractions, including Dunkery, Tarr Steps, Dulverton, Dunster, Wimbleball Lake, and even provides stabling and grazing services that allow guests to bring their horse on holiday too!

Wheddon Cross is a village on Exmoor based around the crossroads; the roads run from north to south between Minehead and Dulverton, and east to west between Taunton and North Devon. The village is argued to be the highest on Exmoor and the highest point on Exmoor, Dunkery Beacon, which is 1704 feet above sea level, is the focal point of the village.In recent years the village has become famous for the abundance of snowdrops in the nearby valley which has become known as 'Snowdrop Valley'. The snowdrops bloom around February and a park and ride system operates from the village to enable visitors easy access to the "carpet of snowdrops".Wheddon Cross is surrounded by beautiful countryside; open moorland, wooded valleys and farmland. An abundance of wildlife can often be seen, including Exmoor ponies and red deer. There are a number of great walks along marked footpaths and bridleways, including the famous Coleridge Way which passes by. The Ballroom is ideal located for exploring Exmoor, being about 20 minutes from many of the key moorland attractions, including Dunkery, Tarr Steps, Dulverton, Dunster, Wimbleball Lake and the list goes on!Wheddon Cross (approx 2 miles) has a well-stocked mini-supermarket, Post Office facilities and petrol station with good opening times. The Rest & Be Thankful Inn is the village pub which serves food and is child and dog friendly. Exford is also approx 2 miles (in the other direction), there is a village shop and Post Office and two pubs and a good tea room.Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 12 miles from The Ballroom. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
