Llandudno is situated between two headlands—the Great Orme and the Little Orme—and the town's two waterfronts are a big part of what make it such a popular tourist destination. The North Shore, with its broad promenade and towering crescent of Victorian hotels, and the West Shore, with its miles of sandy shoreline backed by sand dunes and spectacular views towards Anglesey, are both excellent options for beachgoers in this town. The best vantage points, though, are atop the 679-foot Great Orme, which may be reached via the Great Orme Tramway or an exhilarating cable car trip of more than a mile in length. A short distance from the boardwalk, you'll find a wide variety of stores, pubs, restaurants, and cafés, as well as Venue Cymru, North Wales' main theatrical theatre for opera, ballet, musicals, comedy, and touring orchestras, with an unrivalled schedule. The World Heritage Site town of Conwy is around 5 miles away. Conwy, a remarkable mediaeval treasure, is overshadowed by a magnificent castle and is entirely surrounded by its well-preserved town walls. There's a lot to see and do in North Wales, from the miles of sandy beaches along the coast to the fantastic hiking and rock climbing in Snowdonia National Park, both of which are only 20 minutes away by car.
